The Dodgers are NOT Carprtbaggers.
I have heard fans, especially Angels Fans refer to the Los Angeles
Dodgers as "Carpetbaggers." I say, enough with the carpetbagger bit. Yes, we are originally from Brooklyn, NY; but, The Team's
formative years as an MLB Franchise have been in Los Angeles, which is close to one half of a century now. The Dodgers moved
from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1958. The Los Angeles Angels didn't become an expansion team until 2-3 years later. The Dodgers
have been in California longer than any other MLB Franchise. Also consider this. If our team had stayed in New York, Baseball
Fans from Orange County would probably still have to travel to Downtown Los Angeles to go to a home game. Besides being the
first MLB Franchise to hail in California, The Dodgers have played in the City of Los Angeles and paid taxes to the City of
Los Angeles the whole time they have been in California. Today, The Angels represent the City of Los Angeles, but they still
play in Anaheim and still pay taxes to Anaheim (and have done so since 1966), and they were previously called the Anaheim
Angels for several years. In fact, the team was called the Anaheim Angels when they won the World Series in 2002. If The Dodgers
are carpetbaggers, what does that make The Angels? Squatters?
The Dodgers are the Dominant MLB Franchise in California because
they have been in the state for the longest time, and because of their team history and tradition. The Dodgers made Major
League Baseball in California posiible by being willing to move to L.A. as they were not really needed as much in New York,
so I say to all Angels Fans, no more Carpetbagger comments, at least until The Angels move to our city.

Still the Pride of Los Angeles.

The Lakers have made the post season a good percentage of the
time and have 9 NBA Championships under their belt. The Dodgers have at least 5 World Series Titles as an L.A. Team, and have
made it to more than 20 post seasons. The Dodgers havn't won a World Series since 1988, but they have made it to a few post
seasons since then. Don't write The Lakers and The Dodgers off just yet. As for the Anaheim Ducks, they are not an L.A. Team
as Anaheim/Orange County has become a separate sports market area in the last couple of decades. The Ducks are the "Pride
of Orange County" but not the Pride of L.A.
As for The Angels of Anaheim, they are very hot right now, but
they are not the pride of either L.A or O.C. They currently have one of the best records in Major League Baseball along with
The Red Sox, but aren't getting the respect and the attention they deserve on the National Scale. The Angels have had hot
streaks before. Hot streaks and winning do not determine which team is dominant in a given region, like Southern California.
History and tradition determine that. The Lakers and The Dodgers have built quite a history and tradition for themselves since
they came to Los Angeles over four decades ago. The Angels didn't really build much in the way of history and tradition until
2002 when they won the Wolrld Series as the Anaheim Angels. Besides, the Angel's hot streak can change at any time,
and started to just prior to The 2007 All Star Break. If you remember last year around this time (April to June 2006), the
team was doing just the opposite. They had the same players they have now, except that they had Darrin Erstad in 2006, instead
of Gary Matthews Jr. I remember in 1995 (when the team was still the California Angels) when they had a hot streak just like
they are having now, and they were at least 9 games out in front of everyone else. Then, something happened to shake up The
Angel's confidence. By the time the play offs came around, Seattle had tied them for first place, and The Angels and The Mariners
had to play a game which would decide who went to the American League Play Offs. Despite the hot streak The Angels had, The
Mariners edged them out of the play offs at the very end of the regular season. Something can happen to shake up The
Angels Confidence, just like it did the year The Mariners edged The Angels out of the play offs. This is the one of the big
dangers with these hot streaks. They may keep the hot streak going until October, but they will still have a long way to go
in order to build a history and tradition as much as the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Dodgers have done in the last 40 years. The
City of Anaheim could even win its appeal, in which case The Angels could revert back to being an Anaheim Team like The Ducks.
Anyway, don't scratch The Lakers and The Dodgers from the History Books yet, in fact, for quite awhile.
Why do I Call The Dodgers "True Blue Los Angeles Baseball?"
Since 2005, there have been two Los Angeles Teams in Major League
Baseball, as opposed to one Los Angeles Team and one Orange County Team. The Angels, however, still play in Anaheim, and pay
taxes to Anaheim/Orange County. The Dodgers on the other hand play in the City of Los Angeles and pay taxes to that city,
and they have been doing so now for 50 years as of the 2008 Season. The Dodgers have developed a lot of rich history in Los
Angeles these last 50 years. For the most part, The Dodgers Organization and their fans refuse to acknowledge The Angels of
Anaheim as an L.A. Team
"The Dodgers are 'True Blue Los Angeles Baseball.'"
