1) In 1814 we took a little trip

Along with Col. Jackson down the Mighty Mississip.

We took a little bacon

And we took a little beans

And we caught the Bloody Brittish

In the Town of New Orleans. (Chorus)

CHORUS:

We fired our guns and the Brittish kept a comin'

There wasn't quite as many as there was awhile ago.

We fired once more and they went a runnin'

Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico!

2) We looked down a river to see the Brittish come

And there must of been a hundred of them

Beatin' on their drums

We stood real high

While we heard their bugles ring;

And we stood beside our cotton fields.

And didn't say a thing. (Chorus)

3) Old Hickory said we cantake them by surprise

If we didn't fire our muskets

'til we looked them in the eyes.

We held our fire

'til we see there faces swell,

And we opened up our squirrel guns

And really gave them--WELL WE... (Chorus)

___________________________________________________

Yea they ran through the briar

And they ran through the gravel

And they ran to the places

Where a rabbit wouldn't go.

They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch them

Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico!

4) We fired our cannons

'til the barrels melted down;

So we grabbed an alligator

And we fought another round.

We filled his head with cannonballs

And powdered his behind;

And when we touched the powder off

THE GATOR LOST HIS MIND (Chorus)

****************************************************

Yea they ran through the briars......

Hup, two, three, four,

Sound off three, four......

[Keep repeating & fade out.]
